Happy 2022!
3 januari 2022 - Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canada
The new year started great with this new travel adventure. (If you just tuned in, read my -updated- profile to find some background information.)
Paperwork and more paperwork January 1. Jesse and his girlfriend made it to get into the car after just 2 hours sleep to drop me off at the airport. Awesome. Love them. Told them they're my very best son and "daughter in law". (ok. I don't have other sons btw). I showed up with my 10 pounds paperwork in order to get approval to enter Canada. This includes my 3 vaccinations, a negative PCR test, quarantine plan, my visa, acceptance letter at the school, letter of financial support and a letter of explanation for my entry to Canada (my motivation for this school). Besides the papers, I needed to upload all information in the CanArrive app which provided me finally with a QR code. It was pretty stressful to work through so many documents and questionnaires but at the airport it went super smoothly.
Favored Flyer Yes, that's me! Moving in line through the aisle, automatically making my way to economy class, I suddenly realize my ticket was upgraded to business class..!! Can you believe that? I couldn't. Checked the numbers for 5 times, but it was true. A steward showed up immediately to hand me a menu and to ask me what drink I would like. I settled down in my comfortable chair and noticed I had no neighbors left or right. Perfect. My lunch came on a real plate, with silver cutlery and an ironed napkin. I felt so exclusive;)
My favorite flight attendant Though I could drink whatever I like, I only drink water on a flight. Sometimes hot tea, but unfortunately they never offer other than black tea. But since I was in business class, I expected better. I asked the stewardess. Though her answer was no.. I must have looked very disappointed because she then said: I have green teabags myself, you can have one of my own.. Have you ever had such a flight attendant? What a kind woman, she is really doing her job from her heart. I felt favored again.
Snowy Toronto Januari 2. Waking up in a white world! Comparing to my US trips, the climate is quite different. No hanging out on the streets or the beach but plowing through the snow. And that's okay, it's part of the adventure;) But first this morning it turned out my travel adapter didn't work anymore..Well, that is a problem, where do you get another one on Sunday in a (to me) unknown neighborhood with mainly hotels? I decided to ask the frontdesk first. The dear lady went on an adapter-hunt in her office; opening closets, lockers, drawers and shelves until she finally came up with one that was probably left by a guest. She thought is wouldn't work because it only had one option.. haha, MY country! I thanked her on my knees, I didn't know I could be so thrilled with such as an adapter:) I've spent the day checking out the direction to the school and I'm happy I could join the church service today and I found a Starbucks right across my hotel, Yay;)
Tomorrow morning I'm moving to the campus and I assume the lessons will start also. Thanks for reading and I'll be back at the end of the week with a new story!
Wish you the year you're longing for, seeing dreams come true!
