Survived my first week at school
9 november 2018 - San Diego, California, Verenigde Staten
Test My first day at school started with a test to determine my level. This meant a short speaking test and a 50 minutes paperwork on reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar. I had to think of my 1st graders when I took their CITO tests.. Although the teacher was very relaxed and calming and even though I'm here completely voluntary, yet I felt a bit nervous: " do I know this, how much time do I still have, am I doing right or bad..?" Okay, that's me..
Class The next day we got our results and it turned out that I was in level 10 on a scale of 1-10. That sounds maybe like I can go home already but no, I've a LOT to learn! And I'm very motivated. We mentioned our personal goals and mine are speaking and pronouncing, using the right tense and expand my vocabulary. And o, we have such a funny teacher! I love to go to class. We get homework all day and if we do, we get a STICKER :)) See, I'm really like my 1st graders, awesome:) And he goes the whole morning like: " yay, Marieka, your turn, yay", "perfect, yay".
Hanging out In my home I 've met a nice Swiss girl, she arrived at the same time and we are also in the same class. We like to shop, to cook and eat together and yesterday we had a lot of fun in the ESCAPE ROOM! We formed a team of four: with another Swiss student and the lady who is organizing the events at school. We were locked up in a dorm room of a college student who hacked the system and we had to find the code to get out within 60 minutes. In Dutch it's already hard to solve the puzzles, let alone in English.. So we asked for a clue..and another one..and another one..haha, but yes we escaped with only 5 minutes left. Yay!:)
Note: Thanks everyone for your comments, I like reading it and to stay in touch!
Glad to hear that everything is alright. And that you are enjoying yourself.
Bye; Christel
Geniet en leer met volle teugen!
