Second chance, fresh start

The difference  Wednesday August 14

Some people asked me how it feels to go back. Well, that's a good question, yes it's definitely different from the first time. I'm not that excited anymore, because I already have experienced the adventure. As last year I was stressed out because of my job and really needed that time on my own to find a part of myself back. Then Peter got that accident and I was ready to nurse him and we had a great time together. So, going back felt a bit double, I love to spend time with Lotte and our American relatives, I'm glad I can finish my course, I like developing my language skills, I like the weather. But on the other hand I miss my family at home and our friends. And it feels harder to start over again making new friends at school and in the house. But I don't miss cleaning the bathroom:) Not at all.

At aunt Willy's

Jesse dropped me off at Schiphol but not without hitting the Starbucks and Lotte picked me up at LA airport, waiting for me with a.. Starbucks. If you love me, you go Starbucks;) We picked up the rental car and since Lotte has her drivers license I could sit back and relax, all the way to Apple Valley. Perfect. Aunt Willy welcomed us with home made kroketten, haha, they were good! We talked a lot until midnight, I saw a bed after 30 hours of no sleep.. I fell asleep before I laid down.

Adventure at the very first day  Thursday August 15

Aunt Willy took us in her car to some shops and we were talking about buying a good car and that Willy's car was a good one with a big bumper. Suddenly she was confused about the right street to turn into and she stamped on the brake pedal, the car behind us could barely stop, but then the third car emerged with too much speed and rammed into the car behind us, which one rammed into ours. But lucky us, we had the big bumper! But the second (brandnew!) car looked like a sandwich and the third car was total loss. Luckily nobody was hurt. The driver of the last car reacted very laconic saying that he actually was about to sell his car but that this was also a way to get rid of it:)).

Belated birthday at Huntington beach  Friday August 16

After two nights we kissed aunt goodbye and headed Santa Monica where we inspected some apartments for Lotte and her girl friend. It's amazing what prices they can ask in this neighborhood. Jesse just found a room in an apartment in Leeuwarden with two other students and he pays monthly 350 euro's. The apartments,  what we 've looked at with Lotte, (equipped with only two bedrooms) cost $2500,- at least..  When we were ready, we drove into the Friday afternoon traffic jam but we both can talk excellent so it didn't bother us. At Huntington beach our cousin and wife were waiting for us with a surprise: a big American carrot cake with my name and candles on the top, and balloons in the air with "happy birthday". Hey, that was a week ago, but no worries I can do this twice;) We spend two nice days with them, hanging on the beach, joking and laughing and eating pizza and chicken wings.

Arrived at San Diego  Sunday August 18

Lotte and I drove to San Diego where we met Ryan, her boyfriend and we spent the day together. They helped me with my stuff and dropping off the rental car. I was so glad we could do it together this time! My room is another one, at the street side, so I have sun and daylight, yay! My bed is on the loft so I have a real living room and even a carpet;)

Back in class  Monday August 19

The staff welcomed me warmly with hugs, there was no paperwork, I could walk straight to my new class. Well, that's a big word for only three students including me haha. A guy from Switzerland and a guy from South Korea and that's it. It's almost private lesson.

Now it's time to end this story, it's 9 PM and I didn't do my homework yet!  Thanks for reading and commenting, hugs from SD
